Vail's most recent published planning document puts winter operations at 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with hours that stretch over the course of the season. Vail does not post one fixed closing time for every lift: typical hours for each lift appear on its Lift & Terrain Status page and in the My Epic app, weather changes are posted in real time, and the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin close earlier than the Front Side. As of September 21, 2026, the lift status page showed only the summer schedule, so 2026/27 winter lift times are not yet published.

Vail does not give a clock time for the earlier Back Bowl and Blue Sky closings, so treat the 8:30 to 4:00 window as a planning range, not a promise for a given day.
Where to check on the day
Open the Vail Lift & Terrain Status page in the morning and look up the closing time of the lift you will need at the end of the day, not just the one you start on. Vail Resorts' annual report says the My Epic app shows real-time lift and trail status, so the same information is on your phone. For reference, the status page listed Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19) at 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a summer schedule and not a winter one. Why the afternoon return from Blue Sky Basin needs planning
Vail does not give a clock time after which you should not go into Blue Sky Basin; it cites safety as the reason for the earlier closing. Its master plan shows why the far side is worth planning around: it describes a daily afternoon skier migration from Blue Sky Basin toward Lionshead and Vail Village that congests Flap Jack and the area around Chair 11 (Northwoods Express), and it says the lift line mazes at Chairs 36 and 37 in Blue Sky Basin often exceed what Vail considers acceptable. The practical takeaway is to check the closing time of the lifts on your route home before you head to the far side, and to leave that side well ahead of it. Evenings after the lifts stop
Because Vail does not offer night skiing, the lifts do not run for skiers in the evening. The 2024 master plan describes Adventure Ridge, the activity center at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola, as open until 7:00 p.m. most winter evenings and the Game Creek Club as open until 9:00 p.m. most winter evenings. That is planning-document language about typical operations, so confirm current winter schedules and any reservation rules before you build a dinner around them.
