Ski and snowboard lessons on Vail Mountain are run by Vail Ski & Snowboard School. For 2026/27, an adult group lesson starts at $248 for a half day, a child's full day with lunch starts at $387, and a private half day is $1,080 online. Those are the prices vail.com showed on October 21, 2026, and they change by date.

Every lesson needs a lift ticket or season pass as well, so sort that first (our Epic Pass 2026/27 guide compares the options). Then book the bed close to your meeting point: Vail hotels for opening weekend, November 13 to 15, or compare Vail hotel rates for your dates.

Group lessons start at $248 for a half day, and private lessons run from $1,080 to $1,475 online. This is what Vail's lesson pages listed on October 21, 2026. Prices include fees and vary by date, so treat them as a guide and check your own dates.

The same prices apply to skiing and snowboarding. A private lesson takes up to six people, so split across four or five people, a private half day costs about the same per person as a group half day.

What ages can take lessons at Vail?

Children can start skiing lessons at age 3 and snowboarding at age 5. Kids' group lessons run to age 15, and adult group lessons are for ages 16 and up. Vail groups children by age and ability. The age bands are 3 to 4, 5 to 6 and 7 to 15.

For a kid trying skiing for the first time, the full day is the easier choice. Lunch is included, and you get the day to yourself. Vail also offers 20% off when you book several lesson days in a row for a child.

Group or private: which should you book?

Book a group lesson if you're one or two people and happy to learn with others at your level. Vail groups adults by ability, from first-timers to advanced. It's the cheapest way in, and the 3-for-2 series gives you a third full day free, which suits a week's trip.

Book a private lesson if you're a family or small group, or want to work on something specific. This season Vail sells privates as Epic Ascent. Vail says that includes a dedicated concierge for trip planning, skip-the-lift-line access and flexible start times and meeting places.

Where do Vail ski lessons meet?

Group lessons meet at Golden Peak or Lionshead. Private lessons start in Vail Village or Lionshead. Golden Peak is at the east end of Vail Village. Our guide to where Golden Peak is covers getting there and parking.

Staying near your meeting point makes ski-school mornings much easier, especially with kids and gear. The Vail hotels directory lists hotels in Vail Village and Lionshead. For The Arrabelle, at the Lionshead base, see The Arrabelle on Expedia.

How do you book a lesson, and can you save?
