The sculptor

Singleton served in the Army, taught high school art and won a Fulbright Fellowship to restore Renaissance art in Europe, studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence before being recruited by the Vatican workshop. A visit to the Frederic Remington museum sent him west to Santa Fe and to Western subjects, though he said he saw no real difference between his Western and biblical work.

The gallery also hangs rotating shows from other artists, currently including Earl Biss, Carrie Fell, James Jensen, David Riley, Anke Schofield and the photographer David Yarrow. Several times a year it hosts evenings with the artist in attendance; the events page lists what is coming up.

A sister gallery nearby

Gib Singleton Gallery is one of two galleries, with Relevant Galleries Vail on East Meadow Drive, that together make up The Vail Galleries, run by the AD Galleries family. Relevant leans contemporary, so the two make an easy pairing on one walk through the village.
