Rooms and residences

Standard rooms are about 420 square feet, with a king or two queens, facing either the plaza or the interior. Executive suites add a separate living room, and the residential suites run from roughly 1,100 to 2,100 square feet, sleeping up to ten, with balconies over Vail. A private collection of work by Hispanic artists hangs throughout the hotel and in every room.

Skiing from The Sebastian

The hotel is in the village, not on the slope. Guests are fitted for rentals at the Adventure Concierge in the lobby, and staff carry the gear to Base Camp, the hotel's guest-only ski room at the base of Gondola One, a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Base Camp stores skis and boots overnight and keeps boot warmers, so there is less to carry each morning. Booking rentals ahead earns a discount, and skis and luggage can be shipped ahead through ShipSkis; the FAQ has the terms. It is the hotel's own facility, not Base Camp, the separate rental shop on Hanson Ranch Road. In summer the hotel rents bikes and runs guided rides such as the Vail Pass tour.

Pool and hot tubs

The heated outdoor pool, with underwater benches and a waterfall, is open all year. Two hot tubs sit at the pool steps, and two more, set back, are for adults only. A fitness center, a complimentary morning coffee station in The Library and complimentary Wi-Fi round out the common spaces.

Before you book

Parking is by valet, at a charge. Dogs are welcome for a nightly fee and get a bed, bowls and a toy. Breakfast is not included in standard rates. The FAQ below has the details.

Weddings and meetings

With more than 8,500 square feet of event space, including the Ariel Ballroom for up to 250 and the divisible Vendavel Ballroom, The Sebastian hosts corporate groups and the parts of a wedding weekend that surround the ceremony: welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, after-parties and farewell brunches. Ceremonies usually happen at nearby venues such as Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.

Dining, drinks and spa at The Sebastian

Zuma Vail is the upper-level restaurant, the London-born Zuma group's first alpine location in the United States. It serves izakaya-style Japanese food meant for sharing, sushi and robata grill dishes, with sake and Japanese whisky, and has a lounge with a DJ booth. It suits a night out rather than a quick meal; it is dinner only, closed some weekdays and in the late-fall off-season, so book ahead on OpenTable from its listing or through Zuma's website.

The Gambit Bar is the lobby-level lounge, with cocktails, small plates and local musicians playing jazz, folk and blues in winter. It is the easy choice for après or a nightcap; its listing has current hours.

Bloom Spa is the hotel's full-service spa, with massages, facials and scrubs built around mountain living, such as the High-Altitude Adjustment Massage and the Oxygen Lift Facial, plus a sauna, steam room and relaxation space. It suits a recovery day between ski days or a couples booking; reserve online or call the spa for same-day and couples appointments.

Breakfast at The Sebastian is served to hotel guests on the lower level each morning, as a buffet or from the menu, and in-room dining covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pool deck has its own all-day menu.
