Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) sits at 217 Eldon Wilson Road in Gypsum, about 38 miles west of Vail on I-70, and the shared shuttle to Vail takes about 50 minutes. Four airlines fly there: American and United year-round, Alaska and Delta in winter. Seven rental car companies have counters in the terminal, and shuttles, taxis and a county bus run to Vail.

Where is Eagle County Regional Airport?
Eagle County Regional Airport is in Gypsum, Colorado, not in the town of Eagle or in Eagle-Vail, even though airlines and shuttle companies often call it the Vail or Eagle-Vail airport. Eagle County Government owns and operates the airfield, and the Eagle County Air Terminal Corporation owns and runs the passenger terminal. From the airport, Vail is a drive east along the I-70 valley.
By interstate mileposts, the Gypsum interchange (exit 140) is 36 miles from Vail's main exit 176. The route follows the Eagle River valley and crosses no mountain pass, which is the main practical difference from the drive from Denver. Beaver Creek, Avon and Edwards are on the way, so Beaver Creek's distance from Vail matters if you are splitting a trip between the two.
Which airlines fly to EGE, and which routes are seasonal?
EGE is served by four airlines: Alaska, American, Delta and United. Only two routes run year-round, American from Dallas/Fort Worth and United from Denver. Everything else is seasonal, and Alaska and Delta fly only from December to March. The airport's route list, as posted on flyEGE.com in September 2026, is below.

The airport notes that American and United will extend seasonal service through summer 2027, with United raising Denver flights from three to six a day and adding a daily Los Angeles flight. Seasonal routes start and stop on set dates, so check EGE's month-by-month seasonal schedule against your travel dates before assuming a nonstop exists.
How much does parking cost at Eagle County Airport?
EGE has three public parking lots, and since June 1, 2026 all three give the first hour free, then charge $2 an hour up to a daily maximum: $14 in Terminal Parking A, $12 in Terminal Parking B and $8 in the Economy Lot. You take a ticket on entry and pay at the exit gate by card, tap, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Prepaid reservations for the terminal lots are limited and are not offered over the Christmas holiday. Trailers, RVs and buses are not allowed in any of the three lots without prior approval from the airport. Once in Vail, the town's garages have their own rates, set out in where to park in Vail.
Which rental car companies are at EGE?
Seven rental car companies have counters inside the EGE terminal: Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Sixt. Two more, GoRentals and Thrifty, operate off-airport. A car makes most sense if you are staying outside the villages, in Avon or East Vail, or plan to reach trailheads and other resorts during the trip.
In winter, ask for a vehicle that meets Colorado's Traction Law: four-wheel or all-wheel drive with mud-and-snow, winter or all-weather tires and 3/16-inch tread. CDOT can enforce it on I-70 whenever a storm warrants. If you are staying in Vail Village or Lionshead and plan only to ski, a car often sits in a paid garage for the week, so compare its cost with a shuttle.
How do you get from EGE to Vail without a car?
Travelers without a car have four ways from EGE to Vail: a shared or private shuttle, a taxi, a hotel shuttle where the hotel runs one, or Core Transit's Valley Route bus. The shuttle is the simplest with ski bags; the bus is the cheapest at a $3 fare but runs on a timetable that is not built around flight times.

The Valley Route stops at EGE, Eagle, Edwards, Avon and Vail. Its current timetable runs April 12 to November 21, so check the winter schedule before relying on it for a ski trip. Guests of the Sonnenalp should arrange the hotel shuttle when booking. What is in the EGE terminal?
The EGE terminal is small, and its food and gift shops were changing concessionaires in September 2026, with limited options on both sides of security. A restaurant and bar space sits before security between doors 1 and 2, with more food on the second floor across from gate 2, and vending machines in the lobby and near gate 5.
Wi-Fi is free on the FlyEGE Public WIFI network. A nursing room and a pet relief area are on the second floor across from gate 4. The airport provides free, on-demand Aira assistance for blind, low-vision, Deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers through the Aira Explorer and Aira ASL apps. Items left in the terminal or parking lots go to the Airport Administration Building just west of the terminal.
How early should you arrive for a flight out of EGE?
EGE recommends arriving at least two hours before departure to allow for airline check-in and the security checkpoint; your airline may advise differently. Since February 1, 2026, travelers without a REAL ID or other accepted ID can verify their identity at TSA checkpoints through TSA ConfirmID, a fee-based service.
