Tivoli Lodge is a family-owned, 65-room hotel at 386 Hanson Ranch Road in Vail Village, with Gondola One and the Vail Mountain chairlifts within one block, out the back of the lodge, and the center of the village a 2 to 3 minute walk away. It has a hot tub, a fire pit, a fitness room and a lobby bar, but no dinner restaurant, and the price runs higher than the room rate suggests: a 10.5 percent amenities fee and valet-only parking are added on top.

Location: one block from the lift
The lifts are a block away rather than at the door. The hotel markets slope-side access, but the specific distance is one block, so plan on a short walk to the lift rather than a step onto the snow. Vail Village's shops and restaurants are 2 to 3 minutes on foot, and the lodge is on the free town shuttle route; town buses run year-round every 20 to 60 minutes depending on the season. The lodge has been in the same family since it opened in 1968. Bob and Diane Lazier opened the original lodge, an entirely new building went up in 2006, and the second generation of the family now owns and manages it. A chocolate Labrador has been the resident mascot for about 25 years: Indy, then Speed from 2008, and Racer since 2020.

Every room has a microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, bottled water and central air conditioning, and select rooms add gas fireplaces and Juliet balconies. Only the two suites have kitchens. Cribs and rollaway beds are available on request. Alcove rooms share an entrance and sit side by side but are not adjoining, which matters if two families want connected space. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, balconies included.
Hot tub, fitness room and the Brown Hound Lounge
The outdoor amenity here is a mountainside hot tub with a fire pit, open all year, rather than a pool. Indoors there is a fitness center with a Peloton bike and cardio and weight equipment. Quietkat electric bikes are included in summer and fall through the amenities fee.
The Brown Hound Lounge is the lobby bar, named for Indy, the original chocolate Labrador mascot (who was himself named for the Indianapolis 500, won by the owners' son Buddy Lazier in 1996). Its signature Indini cocktail takes the name too. It sits beside the lobby's leather sofas and overstuffed chairs, with views of Vail Mountain.
Breakfast and dinner
A full American-style hot buffet, with omelets, eggs, bacon or sausage, breads, fruit, granola and oatmeal, is served in the lobby from 7 to 9:30 a.m. It is a paid meal: summer prices are $21.95 for adults and $15.95 for children, and children under 5 eat free. What it costs beyond the room rate
- Amenities fee: 10.5 percent per night plus tax. It covers Wi-Fi, bottled water, coffee and tea in the room, winter ski valet and après ski, the electric bikes, Peloton digital classes, the daily lobby newspaper and the business center.
- Parking: valet only, limited and first come first served, one vehicle per reservation: $50 a night in winter, $45 in summer and $23 in October. Self-parking is available for a fee in the town parking structure. Two Tesla connectors are available to guests. The Vail parking guide has garage rates.
- Pets: limited dog-friendly rooms, $100 non-refundable per pet per stay, two dogs maximum.
- Deposit and cancellation: summer stays (May to October) take a refundable one-night deposit, with full payment 14 days before arrival and no refund inside 14 days. Winter stays (November to April) take a non-refundable one-night deposit, with full payment 30 days out and no refund inside 30 days.
- Check-in and check-out: 4 p.m. and 11 a.m.
