Where it is: Cascade Village, west of the two villages
Grand Hyatt Vail sits just west of Lionshead and Vail Village, just over a mile away and a 5-minute drive. A complimentary shuttle runs a constant loop between the hotel and the villages from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In spring, summer and fall, the Gore Creek path also connects the hotel to the villages on foot or by bike.

Skiing from Chair 20
Chair 20, operated by Vail Resorts, sits just steps from the hotel's back doors, giving ski-in/ski-out access. It connects to routes toward Lionshead and to Chair 26, which climbs to Eagle's Nest, with trails leading back to the resort. One caveat is easy to miss: Chair 20 runs only select dates during the winter season, with opening and closing dates set by Vail Resorts. Guests should confirm early- or late-season operation with the hotel directly rather than assume it runs every day of a trip.

Rooms and residences
Rooms, suites, connecting rooms and accessible rooms are decorated in a warm mountain-modern style, with seating areas and a beverage cooler in every room. A separate line of accommodation, the Vail Residences at Cascade Village, adds condos and vacation homes with full kitchens, in-unit laundry and parking, plus access to the hotel's amenities. Pool, hot tubs and the spa
One heated outdoor infinity pool sits beside Gore Creek, with two large hot tubs. Cabanas and daybeds need a reservation between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Cold plunges and saunas on the pool deck are open daily 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The firepits on Gore Creek Terrace and in the Zen Garden courtyard are lit year-round, weather permitting, except during fire restrictions.
The Spa at Grand Hyatt Vail is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (970-479-5942). Spa facilities — locker room, steam, sauna, Swiss shower and relaxation lounge — come with any booked treatment or a day pass. Treatments include an Alpine Transformation Wrap (body peel, mud and micro-algae wrap, massage) and a TheraFace facial.
