About Tivoli Lodge

Tivoli Lodge sits at the corner of Hanson Ranch Road and Vail Valley Drive, near the base of Golden Peak. Bob and Diane Lazier opened the original Tivoli in 1968 and their family still runs it, though the building is newer than the story: it was rebuilt from the ground up and reopened in 2006.

The family touch is easy to spot. A chocolate Labrador has been the house mascot since 1995 (Racer holds the job now), and the lobby bar, the Brown Hound Lounge, is named for the first of them, Indy.

Location and lifts

Gondola One and Vail Mountain's chairlifts are within a block, out the back of the lodge. That is a short walk rather than ski-in/ski-out, and a winter ski valet takes some of the carrying out of it. The center of Vail Village is two or three minutes away on foot, and the free Town of Vail bus stops nearby.

Rooms

The 65 rooms run from compact Village Standards of about 252 square feet to octagonal Tower rooms ringed with windows and the Seibert Suite, which has a kitchen and fireplace and sleeps four. Mountain View rooms face Vail Mountain and Golden Peak. Rooms do not adjoin, so families who want to be close should ask for side-by-side alcove rooms.

On site

Breakfast is a hot buffet in the Grand Lobby, charged separately. There is no dinner restaurant, so evenings mean the Brown Hound or a walk into the village. The outdoor hot tub and fire pit are open year-round, and there is a fitness center, but no pool or spa.

Before you book

A 10.5% resort fee is added to the nightly rate, and parking is valet-only, one car per reservation, at a nightly charge. A limited number of rooms take dogs, and winter bookings become non-refundable 30 days before arrival. The FAQ below has the details.

Weddings and small groups

The Tivoli suits smaller gatherings. The Wedel conference room holds up to 40, the Grand Lobby and Brown Hound host dinners and receptions, and the back lawn is used for ceremonies. For larger weddings, the staff arranges room blocks and points couples to outside venues such as Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.

Q. Where is Tivoli Lodge?+

Parking is valet-only, one vehicle per reservation and first come first served: $50 a night in winter, $45 in summer and $23 in October. Self-parking in the Town of Vail parking structure costs extra. Two Tesla charging connectors are available.
Q. Does Tivoli Lodge allow dogs?+
Yes, in a limited number of dog-friendly rooms, for $100 per dog per stay and a maximum of two dogs. Book the room through the hotel before arrival. Service dogs are welcome.

There is a mountainside outdoor hot tub and fire pit, open all year, and a fitness center with a Peloton bike. No pool or spa is listed.

Check-in is at 4 p.m. and checkout at 11 a.m. Winter stays (November to April) become non-refundable 30 days before arrival and take a non-refundable one-night deposit. Summer stays (May to October) become non-refundable 14 days before arrival.
Q. Does it work for families?+
Cribs are available and rollaway beds cost extra. Rooms do not adjoin, but some alcove rooms sit side by side behind a shared entrance. The Seibert Suite sleeps four and has a kitchen.
