The Vail Lacrosse Shootout is one of the country's largest club lacrosse tournaments, and it returns to Vail over the Fourth of July week, from Saturday, June 26 to Sunday, July 4, 2027. It started in Aspen in 1973 and moved to Vail for good in 1979; today it hosts more than 65 men's and 40 women's teams, from U19 players to 60-and-over veterans.

2027 dates by division

• Supers (40+), Grands (50+) and Zenmasters (60+): June 26-28
• U19 Boys and U19 Girls: June 28-30
• Men's Elite: July 1-4
• Masters (30+), Elite Women and Masters Women (25+): July 2-4

The elite divisions are scheduled around the holiday on purpose, so the best games fall on the Fourth of July weekend.

Where the games are

Games use fields along a 13-mile stretch of I-70. In Vail they include Ford Field at Ford Park, the Vail Athletic Fields on Vail Valley Drive, Vail Mountain School on Booth Falls Road and Donovan Park; Edwards Freedom Park is also used. Schedules and results are posted on the tournament site.

Parking

Since 2026 the Town of Vail charges for parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead structures and at the Athletic and Ford Field lots. The lot at Vail Mountain School is free but fills quickly, so carpool or take the bus where you can. Fourth of July week is one of the busiest of the Vail summer, so book lodging early.
