The food

The menu joins the Alps and the Rockies. Cheese fondue and meat fondue arrive on a sled, raclette comes as a two-person spread, and the entrees run from Bavarian pork schnitzel with spätzle to slow-cooked pork shank and Swiss rösti with smoked salmon. The house opener is a Glühwein cocktail, and the restaurant is known for its “Eat your hat” Austrian Hutessen. There are kids' and drinks menus too.

Breakfast and the take-away window

Almresi also does a mountain breakfast. For early starts, a take-away window on Bridge Street sells coffee, hot specialties, pretzels, bread and rolls, sandwiches, pastries and cookies, which is handy on the walk up to the Vista Bahn.

Celebrations and booking

The restaurant hosts birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events, rehearsal dinners and weddings; contact it for details. Tables are booked online through OpenTable when the restaurant is taking reservations. Staff greet guests in traditional dress from Wiesnkönig, the Munich brand that supplies the Oktoberfest.

The store and the sister restaurant

Almresi runs its own store, selling Black Forest souvenirs, Bavarian lifestyle fashion for men and women, European home decor and gift cards. Ask at the restaurant when it is open.

The same family took over Alpenrose Vail on East Meadow Drive in 2018. It serves Alpine home-style cooking, and Almresi pointed guests to it while Almresi was closed this summer, saying Alpenrose was open from May to mid-October.
