Dahu opened its first store anywhere in Lionshead in the fall of 2024, at 531 East Lionshead Circle, to let skiers try a boot that comes apart. The Swiss-engineered, Italian-made design pairs a hard outer shell with a warm, weatherproof inner boot that you can pull out and walk in.

It suits skiers whose feet hurt in conventional boots and anyone who dislikes clumping through the village in ski boots at the end of the day. Because the fit differs from a conventional boot, trying a pair in the store makes more sense than ordering online.

How the boot works

The three-piece Cabrio shell does the skiing. Inside it, the Cambium inner boot doubles as a liner and as insulated winter footwear, slipping in and out through the Corsair entry, while a patented Power Beam transmits backward pressure to the skis.

Three models

The Écorce 01X is the lightest and suits aggressive skiing at any level; the 01 is for strong to expert skiers with a slightly narrower fit; and the 01C is built for intermediate to strong skiers who put comfort first, with a wider feel. The liners are heat-moldable, waterproof, insulated with Primaloft and, on the 01 and 01X, fitted with a Recco reflector.

Before you visit

The store keeps split hours, closed in the middle of the day, so check the FAQ before walking over. Dahu also has a second Vail store at 286 Bridge Street in Vail Village, and stocks gloves, goggles and socks from partner brands, including Capranea ski apparel.
