The therapists

Each session is built around what you need that day. The owner, Donna, named the studio for her grandmother, a massage therapist, trained in Kauai and studied Thai yoga massage in Thailand and Laos; she also works with cupping. Lydia teaches Thai and deep tissue massage, is certified in lymphatic drainage and has trained in craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation. Brigitte focuses on deep tissue, sports recovery and Thai work. Between them the menu runs from a craniosacral reset to cupping before a race.

Pool and hot tub

Clients can use The Wren's heated outdoor pool and hot tub, open year-round, and borrow a robe and sandals if they ask in advance. There are no showers, so plan to head back to your room afterward.

Getting there

The studio has two marked parking spaces on the top level of The Wren's parking structure, first come, first served. Otherwise the Vail Village parking structure and the Ford Park lot are each about a 7-minute walk. Several in-town bus stops are within a 6 to 9-minute walk, many hotels will bring guests over on their shuttles, and rideshare drivers find it most easily if you enter "The Wren" as the destination.

Groups and in-home massage

The studio can see three to five people at once, depending on whether guests are happy to share rooms. For groups of four or more, therapists will come to a home in Vail, Minturn, Avon, Beaver Creek or Edwards if there is parking and room for tables, which suits wedding parties and reunions. Arrange this by phone well in advance; pricing differs from the studio.

Inside The Wren

Deep Roots operates inside The Wren at Vail, a condo lodge with a year-round pool a short walk from Golden Peak and Vail Village. Guests staying there can walk downstairs to their appointment.
