Solaris Residences are private condominiums on the upper floors of the Solaris building at 141 East Meadow Drive, above the plaza of shops and restaurants at the east end of Vail Village. The rental program runs them like a hotel, with a 24-hour front desk and bell desk, a daily concierge and daily housekeeping, but what you book is a full residence: studios at one end, three- and four-bedroom homes and penthouses at the other.

That makes Solaris a fit for families, several couples sharing a ski week, or anyone who wants a real kitchen and a laundry room without giving up turndown service. It is priced and styled at the luxury end of Vail, so it makes less sense for a quick two-night stay.

The residences

Each residence is individually owned, so layouts vary, but the common thread is space: Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchens, climate-controlled wine storage, a stone or gas fireplace, an in-unit washer and dryer and a furnished terrace. Primary baths have deep jetted soaking tubs. A typical three-bedroom sleeps eight and the largest four-bedroom homes sleep ten, so compare the individual residence pages before you book.

Skiing and getting around

Solaris is on Meadow Drive, not at the lift base, so it is not ski-in/ski-out. Guests get private ski lockers and a ski valet at the Gorsuch Ski Café at the top of Bridge Street, steps from Gondola One, so boots and skis wait near the lift rather than in the residence. A private shuttle and the free town bus cover the rest, and in winter the lobby puts out morning pastries and coffee and afternoon après treats.

In the building

There is a heated indoor pool, a hot tub and a 24-hour fitness center, plus a three-room spa run by GLO Mind Body Skin. Treatments and parking cost extra. The concierge also books priority tables at two restaurants in the same building, Deca + Bol and Matsuhisa.

Before you book

Parking is valet-only in a heated underground garage, at a nightly charge per vehicle. Pets and smoking are not allowed. On the standard rate, bookings take a 50% deposit and become non-refundable 35 days before arrival; a flexible rate is also offered. The FAQ below has the figures.

Connected establishments

GLO Mind Body Skin is the residences' spa, on the second floor of the building's east wing (take the east wing elevators). It offers massages, facials and HydraFacials by appointment, and suits guests who want a treatment without leaving the building. Book online or dial 110 from your residence; outside visitors get two hours of valet parking with a treatment.

Also in the Solaris building, but not part of the residences: Deca + Bol, the restaurant with bowling lanes, and Matsuhisa, Nobu Matsuhisa's restaurant. Residence guests get priority reservations at both through the concierge.
