Sun Vail is a condominium complex on the North Frontage Road West, directly across the pedestrian bridge from Lionshead Village. That bridge is the whole point: you park once, walk over the interstate and are in Lionshead, near the Eagle Bahn Gondola, without a shuttle or a garage fee for your first car.

It suits families and friends who want a full kitchen, a fireplace and a balcony facing Vail Mountain at condo rather than village-hotel prices, and who are happy to walk a few minutes to the lifts. There is no front desk or restaurant; the draw is space, the view and a year-round pool.

The condos

Units are individually owned and range from one-bedroom condos for two to three-bedroom units that sleep six or eight. They have full kitchens, fireplaces and private balconies or patios, many with views south to Vail Mountain, and several have washers and dryers. Because each owner furnishes their own unit, check the bed layout, bathroom count and view on the specific listing before you book.

Pool, hot tubs and sauna

The shared amenities are outdoor: a large heated pool open year-round, two hot tubs and a redwood sauna. There is no on-site gym, so plan on a fitness facility in town if a workout matters.

Location and lifts

Sun Vail is walk-to-lift, not ski-in/ski-out, whatever some rental listings say. From the complex you cross the pedestrian bridge into Lionshead, with the gondola, ski school, rental shops and restaurants a short walk beyond.
