Montauk Seafood Grill
About
Montauk Seafood Grill has been serving oysters, crab and grilled fish in Lionshead for 37 years, from the ground floor of the Lift House building near the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Its signature dish, rare-seared ahi tuna, has been on the menu since 1995, and the executive chef, Dimitri Souvorin, has cooked here since 1996.
It suits a proper seafood dinner after a day on the mountain: couples at the raw bar, families who want a kids' menu, and groups planning a rehearsal dinner or company night out in Lionshead.
The menu
The raw bar carries rotating oysters, shrimp cocktail, Maine lobster tails and Alaskan king and Dungeness crab, with a chilled seafood tower for the table. Chef's specialties such as the ahi and herb-crusted halibut sit alongside a grill list where you choose a fish or a Black Angus filet or ribeye with two sides and a house sauce. The restaurant says it supports sustainable fishing and aquaculture and buys from local businesses where it can.
Drinks and the bar
The bar team changes its craft cocktails with the seasons, and the wine list runs to more than 120 bottles. The full menu is served at the bar on a first-come basis, which is the easiest way in on a busy night without a booking.
Reservations
Tables are booked online through OpenTable, and walk-ins are welcome in the dining room and bar. The restaurant recommends reserving for weekends and holidays, and larger parties book by phone. Dinner is served every night; times are in the FAQ.
Private parties
Montauk takes rehearsal dinners, corporate dinners and birthdays, with a partial buyout for a private group or the whole room for a larger party. Requests go through the restaurant's special reservations form, ideally three to six months ahead. The same owner and chef also run El Segundo, a Mexican restaurant in Vail Village.
