Simba Run does one thing and keeps it simple: every rental is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium with a full kitchen, a washer and dryer and a wood-burning fireplace. The complex sits on the North Frontage Road West, on the far side of the interstate from Lionshead, and adds hotel-style services around those condos: a front desk, concierge, a free winter shuttle and what it calls the largest indoor heated pool in Vail.

It suits families and pairs of couples who want a shared kitchen and a second bathroom more than a village doorstep, and anyone who values an indoor pool when the weather turns. Groups, reunions and wedding parties can take several identical units rather than piecing together different floor plans.

The condos

Units come in Deluxe and Premier grades. Both sleep four, and some sleep six. Floor plans come in two versions: single-level, with both bedrooms off the living area, or two-level, with a walk-out balcony and one bedroom set apart from the living space. Each condo is individually furnished, so bed types vary; if you need separate beds for everyone, ask reservations before you book.

Pool, hot tubs and fitness

The indoor pool is the centerpiece, with indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a sauna and a steam room beside it. There is a refurbished fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical, cable trainer and free weights, plus outdoor tennis courts, and free ski lockers in winter.

Getting to the lifts

Simba Run is not walk-to-lift. In ski season a free private shuttle loops to the Vail Village and Lionshead transportation centers every 20 minutes from morning to evening, and the resort says everything in Vail, including skiing, dining and the cinema, is within about a mile.

Q. What fees are added to the rate?+
