What you can rent

Ski packages come in three tiers: Basic for beginners, Performance for beginners to intermediates, and Demo skis for intermediate to advanced skiers. Snowboards come in demo and basic versions, and junior packages cover children 12 and under. Helmets are an add-on, skiers who bring their own boots pay a little less, and if conditions change mid-trip the shop will swap skis.

Booking and pickup

Online reservations must be made at least 48 hours ahead and take 25% off the published rates; you pay at pickup. The shop suggests collecting gear the evening before your first ski day, after 5 p.m., because the hours between 3 and 5 are busy with returns. Groups of more than 12 should call.

Between ski days

Rental skis and boards stay at the shop overnight at no charge, and there is paid boot drying, so the morning starts with a short walk to the gondola rather than a gear haul. Children whose boots stop fitting are refitted at no charge.

Summer: Wheel Base

When the ski season ends, the same operator runs Wheel Base from the same address, with bike rentals and a Vail Pass shuttle ride from June through September. The two shops share a phone number and link to each other.

Staying at The Landmark

The Landmark's ski page says Ski Base sits in the same building and gives The Landmark Residences guests 30% off rentals. Mention your stay or bring the flyer from the front desk.
