Coffee and pastries

The coffee list covers drip coffee, espresso, cortado, flat white, lattes, mochas, chai, London fog and matcha, with oat, soy, almond and coconut milk. The hot chocolates are worth singling out: a Bavarian version with cream, and a Mexican one spiced with cinnamon, star anise and cayenne. Pastries include butter, chocolate, ham-and-cheese and spinach-and-feta croissants, plus muffins and danishes.

Lunch and the bar

Light lunch means sandwiches, paninis and other savory bites, eaten inside or on the patio. The bar pours Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, Dunkel and Pilsner alongside a Colorado IPA, a short list of wines by the glass or bottle, mimosas and a Bloody Mary, and cocktails such as a Hugo spritz, an espresso martini and a mezcal-and-maple Mezcalita. Two non-alcoholic mixed drinks are on the list too.

When to go

Treff keeps café hours, closing in the late afternoon or early evening rather than running late into the night. Hours are shortest in the fall shoulder season and longest from mid-December; the FAQ has the current schedule.

Inside Sonnenalp Vail

Treff is one of several places to eat and drink at Sonnenalp Vail. Ludwig's serves the hotel's daily breakfast on its terrace and a regionally inspired dinner. Bully Ranch is the casual Western-themed spot for lunch, dinner and happy hour, and Swiss Chalet specializes in fondue, raclette and schnitzel. The King's Club is the fireside lounge for cocktails and live entertainment, and Sonnenalp Spa is on the property as well.
