Condos and townhomes

One-, two- and three-bedroom condos and three-level, three-bedroom townhomes all have private entrances, full kitchens, a fireplace and a patio or balcony. Condos sit in three-level buildings reached by stair towers. There is no air conditioning; at this altitude open windows usually do the job. Stays of six months or more are offered too.

The athletic club

The club has Technogym and Peloton equipment, TRX, free weights and free fitness, spin, yoga and Pilates classes. Three hot tubs, one by the pool facing the mountains and two quieter ones inside, sit alongside saunas and steam rooms in the locker rooms. Seven tennis courts, three of them clay, and three pickleball courts are open from about May to October, with lessons, clinics and junior camps. Massage is available by appointment.

Getting around

The resort does not run its own shuttle, but two stops of the free Town of Vail bus are on the property, and the ride to the Vail Transportation Center at Bridge Street takes about 15 to 20 minutes. From the resort, East Vail's hiking trails, ice-climbing falls and the Vail Nordic Center are close by.

Families and groups

There is a playground beside the BBQ patio, Bighorn Park with a pond is a quarter mile away, children stay at no added fee and pack-n-plays are free. Groups of five or more units get discounted rates, and the resort serves as lodging for weddings, reunions and sports teams, though it does not host ceremonies. On site at the resort

Après Cafe is East Vail's only restaurant and bar, on the resort grounds. It serves salads, sandwiches, entrées and handmade pizzas over two levels with fireside seating for about 100, and is open to the public as well as resort guests. It is privately and independently run and seasonal, open from early December through April and late May through October; call 970-688-5437 for hours and reservations.

Mountain Shoppe is the resort's on-site shop for fitness apparel, swimwear, gifts and outdoor essentials, with brands such as Patagonia, Prana and Carve Designs, handy for a forgotten swimsuit on the way to the pool.
