Breakfast

The menu calls its Benedicts the World's Best, and there are eight of them, from the classic with country ham and béarnaise to bison tenderloin, crab cake, chicken and sweet potato waffles, and a maple-glazed pork belly version on a biscuit. Around them sit skillets, huevos rancheros with pork green chili or red elk chili, Cap'n Crunch French toast, gluten-free pancakes and a lighter Health Club section with avocado toast and steel-cut oats.

Lunch and dinner

Lunch and dinner run to burgers (including bison and an open-faced elk chili burger), soups, salads and rice and ramen bowls. At dinner, entrées step up to ribeye, filet mignon, salmon, shrimp scampi, French onion meatloaf and crispy chicken with country gravy.

The bar

The Big Ass Bloodys come in an 18-ounce schooner with house-infused vodka (classic, spicy or bacon), a veggie skewer and a mini beer. There are also mimosas, a barrel-aged Manhattan made with 10th Mountain bourbon, Vail Brewing Company's Gore Creek IPA on draft and a wine list with bottles and glasses. Coffee is a house blend from Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea.

Before you go

It gets busy. At peak times the cafe runs a waitlist through the Yelp app, so you can join the line before you arrive. Larger parties pay an automatic gratuity, and the owners cater off-site at any time of day. Hours and details are in the FAQ.

Next to Highline Vail

Westside Cafe is independently operated, but Highline Vail, a DoubleTree by Hilton lists it among the hotel's dining options, a few steps from the lobby. The hotel's own restaurants are Pivot62 and Del Toro Mexican Cuisine.
