Rooms, residences and penthouses

Guest rooms start around 300 square feet; some have a terrace with a firepit or a balcony facing Vail Mountain, and bi-level lofts add a sofa bed. Suites bring fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and in some cases two balconies. Residences of one to three bedrooms sleep up to eight, and the penthouses run to four bedrooms, the largest at 3,595 square feet with its own whirlpool.

Pool, après and the gear locker

The year-round outdoor pool and hot tub sit among trees with the mountain behind. The après deck has firepits with complimentary s'mores every day and seasonal live music, and on Fridays the hotel hosts a Chästeilet, a Swiss cheese-sharing ritual. The Adventure Locker at the concierge desk lends gear for hiking, outdoor concerts and the farmers' market at no charge. Pets are welcome.

Skiing and getting around

The Hythe is walk-to-lift, not ski-in/ski-out. The Eagle Bahn Gondola is a few minutes away on foot, a winter ski valet handles storage, and an on-site True North shop rents skis and bikes. The hotel has a courtesy Toyota vehicle service but no airport shuttle, and parking is valet-only at a daily rate; see the FAQ.

Weddings, meetings and events

The Hythe has 22 event venues and over 29,000 square feet of event space, which it calls the most in the Vail Valley. The Grand Ballroom suits 550 to 1,000 guests and the Colorado Ballroom 260 to 450, with breakout rooms for smaller groups. Certified wedding planners and bridal services at the spa are available.

Restaurants, bars and spa at The Hythe

Revel Lounge is the hotel's main restaurant and après bar, serving Colorado-inspired food and craft cocktails from late morning into the night. It suits a long après or a relaxed dinner without leaving the building; call 970-477-5618.

Margie's Haas is the breakfast restaurant, named for a local home cook who welcomed 10th Mountain Division soldiers into her home during World War II. It serves a breakfast buffet and an à la carte brunch menu every morning, a good fit for families fueling up before the gondola.

10th Mountain is the lobby bar, run with the local 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company. It pours Colorado whiskey and cocktails with small plates in the late afternoon, and a dollar from each 10th Mountain cocktail goes to the Vail Veterans Program.

Mountain Ration Grab & Go is the hotel's market for coffee, fresh snacks and provisions, open from early morning to late afternoon for skiers heading out on the first gondola.

Well & Being Spa offers massages, facials and body treatments, with a Himalayan salt therapy room the hotel says is Vail's only one. Treatments of 50 minutes or more include three hours in the recovery room, salt room, steam room, fitness center and pool. Guests must be 16 or older; book on 970-479-5004.

True North is the hotel's on-property ski, snowboard and bike rental and retail shop, with slopeside or village pickup.
